Fifty thousand feet…

This month the Elkanah Express is written by our director Joe Wing as he reflects on 2021 and looks forward to 2022!

Looking back at the year 2021 my heart is warmed by the thoughts of the voices of campers running through the trees at Camp. I am blessed to have made new friends and reconnect with old pals. Thinking about our small summer staff and how they integrated with a large volunteer group to create an unforgettable experience for the campers, brings a smile to my face. We are excited as we look forward to 2022 and realize that we get to do it all again.

We learned in 2021 that as we build high-quality programming for Eastern Oregon, we need to ensure that our staff structure adjusts to the needs of Camp. Because of that, we are hiring another year-round staffer to manage the rentals of Elkanah. We are excited to create a healthy work environment for our year-round staff. Be praying that God brings the right person to join the team.

When I can climb out of the weeds and get to fifty thousand feet to see the big picture. It is amazing to see what God shows me He is doing at Elkanah. He is providing new restrooms to better serve our guests. He is providing the Track Crew, our monthly funding team that currently funds 40% of our monthly needs. He is providing a growing staff that is passionate to serve Him. He is providing you to support us through prayer. He is providing the people we need to provide programming at a level never seen before at Elkanah.

Twenty twenty-one was an amazing year, thank you for the support you have shown Elkanah through the uncertainty. Whether that support is as a member of our Track Crew, a prayer warrior, a volunteer on a work weekend, a volunteer outdoor school presenter, or a camper enjoying the place we love, we appreciate each one of you.

Join us as we look forward with excitement to what God will do at Camp Elkanah in 2022. We are blessed that you are a part of the story He is writing at Elkanah.

Joe (Mr.) Wing
